Brad Slade – Author Biography

Brad Slade writes worlds. Some burned. Some survived. All remembered.

A Gen X survivor of silence, grief, and VHS static, Brad crafts stories that dig into the marrow, fiction that bleeds, essays that punch, fanfics that dare to finish what others abandoned. His works span mythic fantasy, science fiction, post-collapse memoir, and reimagined continuations of epic sagas like A Song of Ice and Fire and Stargate.

His nonfiction book, Help Yourself… Or Don’t, is a raw, poetic field manual for anyone raised on sitcoms and sarcasm, searching for truth in the wreckage of burnout and broken promises. It’s not a self-help book… it’s a last-chance mixtape for those still standing.

Whether he’s reconstructing Westeros, reviving the Stargate program, or building entirely new realities from the ruins of this one, Brad writes with purpose: not to escape, but to confront.

📍 Based in Texas. Fueled by coffee, mixtapes, and righteous frustration.

  • New SGU Fanfic Coming Soon!

Stargate Universe, Season 3 Episode 4
    ALLIANCES

Destiny enters a new galaxy expecting a routine recharge. No alarms. No crisis. Just light, silence, and the familiar rhythm of an ancient ship doing what it has done for millions of years.

    Then it drops into war.

Not a single battle. Not an invasion in progress. An entire region of space shaped by decades of conflict. Shattered worlds. Drifting wreckage. Distress calls layered over one another in languages Destiny has never heard before. Survivors trapped in the remains of ships that no longer exist as ships at all but are drifting lifeboats.

For the first time since Destiny was repaired, survival is no longer the only question in the room.

The crew can act now. They can intervene. They can help. And the moment they do, neutrality stops being passive.

As Destiny moves through this galaxy, its presence alone begins to shift power balances. Some factions want the ship close, others want it gone. Some ask for aid. Others refuse it entirely, choosing extinction over assimilation. And one empire, the Zevrin Dominion, continues their mission of cleansing the unrighteous from their path to the origin signal, they begin calculating what Destiny represents to a war that was only meant to end in extinction of anyone not Zevrin.

Alliances is a story about unintended consequence. About how helping one world could condemn another. About whether neutrality is a moral position or just another form of violence. And about the moment Destiny stops being a witness to history and becomes part of it.

Season 3 Episode 4 continues the Stargate Universe story as it was meant to be told. Quiet. Heavy. Uncomfortable. Focused on choice rather than victory.

    Coming soon.

  • Aric Is Now Available!

A new year begins, and with it, a finished story enters the world.

This book wasn’t written to chase trends or algorithms. It was written slowly, deliberately, and with respect for the reader. It’s a character-driven story shaped by memory, consequence, and the quiet moments where choices harden into fate.

Publishing a book at the turn of the year feels appropriate. Not because the world resets, it never does, but because continuing to build something honest is its own form of defiance.

Thank you to everyone who has followed the work so far, visited the site, or taken the time to read any of my writing. This release marks a beginning, not a conclusion. More stories are already underway, including additional Stargate Universe fanfiction and the next book in this saga, Reina: The Fractured Rider, which is currently in editing.

Aric: The Corruption of Concordia is available now for purchase in Kindle, Paperback and Hardcover on Amazon.

  • Pre-Orders Are Live: A New Saga Begins January 1

    The wait is almost over.

Pre-Orders are now live for Aric: The Corruption of Concordia, Book One of The Broken Legacy Saga.

This book marks the beginning of a ten-book epic set in a world reshaped by catastrophe, rebuilt around order, precision, and control. After the Unbinding shattered ancient seals and returned raw magic to the world, some of humanity responded the only way it knew how, by building systems, by enforcing balance, by trusting that perfect structure could prevent collapse.

Concordia is the pinnacle of that belief.

Aric Kaelen is one of the city’s most trusted technomancers, an auditor trained to read the flow of mana and machine as living systems. He believes in Concordia. He believes in correction. He believes the system works.

    Until it doesn’t.

What begins as a minor anomaly becomes something far more dangerous, a flaw that refuses to resolve, a pattern that suggests the city’s perfection is not balance at all, but containment. As Aric digs deeper, he uncovers truths deliberately erased from history and encounters forces that exist outside Concordia’s reach, unseen by its grids, untouched by its safeguards.

Aric: The Corruption of Concordia is a science-fantasy novel about control disguised as harmony, systems that learn to lie, and the quiet rebellion of a man who refuses to ignore the crack in a perfect world.

The Kindle edition is now available for pre-order on Amazon and will be automatically delivered on January 1, 2026. Paperback and hardcover editions will release the same day. New year, new saga.

This is the first step in a long story I’ve been building for years, one that grows wider and stranger with each book. If you’ve followed my work before, thank you for being here at the beginning of something new. If you’re just discovering it now, welcome, the story is just getting started.

More updates, excerpts, and behind-the-scenes notes will be coming soon.

    The saga begins.

  • The Case of the Missing Apostrophes

I was polishing Aric’s manuscript this week and stumbled across something unexpected. Not a plot issue, not a thematic oversight, not some grand structural revelation. Nothing nearly that dramatic.

No, it was a keyboard ghost from the past.

Somewhere in the endless word count I noticed a pattern. A strange absence. A tiny punctuation rebellion that I have apparently been waging for years without noticing.

I almost never use the apostrophe.

It turns out that learning to type on a typewriter leaves a few quiet fingerprints on you that last longer than any teacher ever warned us about. The apostrophe was always the awkward key. The one that stuck. The one that required just a little more force than the others. The one that snapped the smooth rhythm of the machine and made a sound like an interruption.

So, I unconsciously did what any stubborn young writer would do. I avoided it.

And decades later, here I am, editing a hundred thirteen thousand word novel and catching myself writing things like cannot, do not, did not, could not, will not, etc. and its with the confidence of someone entirely convinced this is how English works.

I laughed, fixed them all, shook my head at myself, and kept editing.

Aric’s book is almost done now. Final polish is moving smoothly toward the January first release. It is a strange feeling to see the finish line approaching after spending so long building the world and the cast that will shape The Broken Legacy Saga. It feels real in a way it didn’t before. Small discoveries like my ancient feud with the apostrophe only make it feel more like the universe is tapping me on the shoulder and saying yes this is happening.

I’ve thought about going back someday to clean up my older fanfics, especially now that I can see every little quirk in my writing with fresh eyes. But right now I simply don’t have the time. The Broken Legacy Saga is my main focus, and I’m still working on my Stargate Universe episodes as well. Between the original series and the crew of the Destiny, my plate is full in the best possible way.

The fanfics will stay as they are for now. They were written at a different stage of my life, and they still carry that version of me. I am letting them remain exactly as they were while I move forward with what comes next.

This original world’s been waiting a long time to take its first step into daylight, and I’m looking forward to finally sharing it.

  • New Stargate!!!

A New Stargate Series Has Been Greenlit

The Gate Will Soon Open Again

Fans of the franchise have waited a long time to see the wormhole ripple once more. Today we finally received the news we have been hoping for. Amazon MGM Studios has officially ordered a brand new Stargate series, led by veteran producer and writer Martin Gero. This will not be a reboot or a reset, but a continuation of the story universe that has inspired audiences for nearly three decades.

A new chapter. A familiar stargate. A legacy that still matters.

Franchise icons Brad Wright and Joseph Mallozzi are involved as consulting producers, ensuring that the heart and history of Stargate remain central as the series evolves into its next era. The production is now entering its earliest stages. Scripts are being formed. The writer’s room is assembling. The creative engines are firing.

Nothing is more exciting than a universe that refuses to stay dormant.

As someone who has spent the past years writing, imagining, and continuing the narrative of the Stargate Program through fanfiction and analysis, this moment feels both triumphant and deeply meaningful. For a long stretch of silence, the future of the franchise seemed uncertain. Yet the fans never stopped believing. We kept exploring, kept asking what comes next, kept the torches lit in the darkness of the unknown.

Now we finally have direction. And a wormhole once again waiting to be dialed.

I’ll be following every development closely and sharing confirmed updates as they arrive. Whatever form this new chapter takes, one thing is certain. Stargate endures because its core idea endures: exploration, curiosity, courage, and the belief that humanity can rise to the challenges hidden among the stars.

We will walk through the gate again.
And the universe will welcome us home.

    Sincerely,
    BradtheScribe
